Strong earth quake of 5.8 Magnitude struck central Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. The tremors were sent along the east coast. Followed by which office buildings from Washington D.C to New York were evacuated.
Most of downtown D.C. was evacuated, including the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and other office buildings.
There were no immediate reports of injury or serious structural damage. However after secondary inspection of the Washington Monument some cracking in the stones at the top of the Monument, were found.
The East Coast gets earthquakes, but usually smaller ones and is less prepared than California or Alaska for shaking.
